Who knew May was National BBQ Month? Me either, but I thought it was perfect opportunity to settle the debate!

The nicer weather is finally here, and that means longer days, patio season, and most importantly BBQ! But before you fire up the grill, let’s talk about the great BBQ debate that divides the country almost as much as real estate negotiations.

Is BBQ a food or a verb?

  • If you're from the North, you might say, “We're having a barbecue” (aka grilling burgers and hot dogs).

  • If you're from the South, BBQ isn’t a verb, it’s a sacred, slow-cooked masterpiece that deserves its own food pyramid.

And don’t even get me started on sauces!

  • Kansas City: Thick, sweet, and tomato-based perfect for ribs.

  • Texas: Bold, smoky, and a little spicy, just like a hot seller’s market.

  • South Carolina: Mustard-based because they like to keep things tangy.

  • North Carolina: Vinegar-based and tangy, keeping it simple, like a no-nonsense buyer.

  • Alabama: White BBQ sauce? Yes, and trust me, it’s worth a try.

Where’s the best BBQ in town?

Here are a few local spots around Seabrook that deserve a taste test this month:

🍖 Tookie’s BBQ – A laid-back spot with big Texas flavor and juicy brisket that's hard to beat.

🔥 Opie’s BBQ – A bit of a drive to Spicewood, but some locals swear by it for a real Central Texas experience.

🐖 Killen’s Barbecue – In nearby Pearland, with melt-in-your-mouth brisket and ribs that often sell out fast.

🍗 Truth BBQ – Located in Houston and considered one of the best BBQ joints in the entire country. Worth the wait!

So…How do you like your BBQ? Reply and tell me your sauce of choice or if you’re team “BBQ = Grilling.” (I promise I won’t judge… much.)

Happy BBQ Month! If you need a new patio for that new smoker, just hit me up! That’s a perfect excuse to go house hunting IMO! Now, who’s hungry?
